‘Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit,
so as to form one body” 1 Corinthians 12:12-13
Baptism is a gift given to us by which we participate in and accept through faith Jesus’ own death and resurrection for us.
In the waters of baptism we repent (or turn away from) our old way of living and thinking, die to our sin, and accept the new life bought for us by Jesus at the cross.
In baptism we are reborn through the Holy Spirit and accept that new life as one of obedience to Jesus our Lord.
Baptism is a public declaration of our faith and commitment to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the way we are incorporated by the Spirit into his body, the Church!
It is an outward sign of the inner workings of God’s grace.
